The Bak-Sneppen Model on Scale-Free Networks

چکیده
We investigate by numerical simulations and analytical calculations the Bak-Sneppen model for biological evolution in scale-free networks. By using large scale numerical simulations, we study the avalanche size distribution and the activity time behavior at nodes with different connectivities. We argue the absence of a critical barrier and its associated critical behavior for infinite size systems. These findings are supported by a single site mean-field analytic treatment of the model.

Universality Class of Bak-Sneppen Model on Scale-Free Network
We study the critical properties of the Bak-Sneppen coevolution model on scalefree networks by Monte Carlo method. We report the distribution of the avalanche size and fractal activity through the branching process. We observe that the critical fitness fc(N) depends on the number of the node such as fc(N) ∼ 1/ log(N) for both the scale-free network and the directed scale-free network. Near the ...
متن کاملEvolutionary dynamics in the Bak-Sneppen model on small-world networks
We study the dynamics of the Bak-Sneppen model on small-world networks. For each site in the network, we define a " connectance, " which measures the distance to all other sites. We find radically different patterns of activity for different sites, depending on their connectance and also on the topology of the network. For a given network, the site with the minimal connectance shows long period...
متن کاملDeterministic Bak-Sneppen model. Lyapunov spectrum and avalanches as return times
A deterministic version of the Bak-Sneppen model is studied. The role of the Lyapunov spectrum in the onset of scale-free behavior is established and avalanches are interpreted as return times to a zeromeasure set. The problem of accurate determination of the scaling exponents near the critical barrier is addressed using a characteristic function approach. A general equation for return times to...
متن کاملGenetic information and self-organized criticality
– The numerical fitnesses of species defined in the Bak-Sneppen model of selforganized criticality are interpreted as binary strings. This allows new species to be generated by mutation of survivors. It is shown that selection in Bak-Sneppen systems defined on both uniform and random lattices produces genotypes in conformity with the Eigen criterion for the accumulation of genetic information i...
متن کاملJa n 20 03 On the limit behaviour of the Bak - Sneppen evolution model
One of the key problems related to the Bak-Sneppen evolution model on the circle is to compute the limit distribution of the fitness at a fixed observation vertex in the stationary regime, as the size of the system tends to infinity. Simulations in [4] and [1] suggest that this limit distribution is uniform on (f, 1), for some f ∼ 2/3. In this paper we prove that the mean of the fitness in the ...
